The CSIO5* Prix SAUR in La Baule delivered top-class sport on Saturday as some of the world's best combinations battled it out in a thrilling jump-off. With speed and precision proving decisive, Steve Guerdat ultimately emerged victorious in a competition where the top five were separated by less than two seconds.
Steve Guerdat once again demonstrated why he remains one of the sport's leading figures. Riding Lancelotta (Lancer III), the Swiss rider produced a lightning-fast clear round in the jump-off, stopping the clock in 36.57 seconds to secure victory. American star McLain Ward followed closely behind aboard High Star Hero (Zazu), delivering another faultless performance to finish second in 37.40 seconds.
Egypt's Nayel Nassar completed the podium with Orphea HQ (Emerald) after a smooth and efficient jump-off round in 38.03 seconds. Italy's Riccardo Pisani claimed fourth place with Chacco's Lawito PS (Chacco-Blue) in 38.29 seconds, while Ireland's Shane Sweetnam rounded out the top five aboard Pia Maria H (Kasanova de la Pomme) with a time of 38.52 seconds.
