Switzerland delivered a memorable performance in front of its home crowd to win the prestigious CSIO5* Range Rover Nations Cup of St. Gallen. Led by Martin Fuchs, Jason Smith, Steve Guerdat and Alain Jufer, the Swiss team finished on nine penalties after two rounds, securing victory ahead of Austria and Great Britain.
The home side laid the foundation for victory in the opening round, where they collected eight penalties. Switzerland then produced a superb second round, adding just a single time penalty to finish on a winning total of nine penalties.
Martin Fuchs partnered Lorde (Clyde LVB Z), recovering from eight penalties in the opening round with a clear effort in round two. Jason Smith proved invaluable aboard Picobello van't Roosakker (Kassander Van 'T Roosakker) , producing the only double-clear performance for the Swiss team. Steve Guerdat and Albfuehren's Iashin Sitte (Bamako de Muze) also played a crucial role, following four penalties in round one with a clear jumping round and only one time fault in the second round. Alain Jufer completed the winning quartet with Dante MM (Diarado).
Austria secured runner-up honours on a total of sixteen penalties. The Austrian team remained within striking distance throughout the competition but ultimately could not match the consistency of the hosts. Great Britain completed the podium in third place with seventeen penalties.
Just outside the podium positions, the United States finished fourth on twenty penalties. Germany rounded out the top five with twenty-two penalties, narrowly edging Belgium on overall time after both nations finished on the same score.
