The Holsteiner stallion Cap Kennedy has passed away at the age of 22. Cap Kennedy ($Cassini\ II \times Cantus \times Romino$) was discovered as a two-and-a-half-year-old at the Holsteiner licensing and subsequently purchased by Haras du Bois Margot. Although he made an impression in the sport as a young horse, his competitive career was ended at the age of 8 to focus entirely on breeding.
It is through his offspring that he has left an indelible mark on the world of show jumping. His most famous descendant is undoubtedly the phenomenal Dallas Vegas Batilly. Under the saddle of Ben Maher, she was crowned Olympic Team Champion in Paris and secured team silver at the European Championships in La Coruña last year.
In addition, he produced several successful Grand Prix horses, including:
-
Unna de Kerglenn: Competing at the 5* level with Kevin Staut for Écuries HDC.
-
Cap Libellule: Successful up to the 4* Grand Prix level.
With the passing of Cap Kennedy, the show jumping breeding world loses an influential sire.
