Willem Greve and the 13-year-old Highway TN N.O.P. captured hearts with an impressive World Cup victory on Sunday. "I’ve been riding Highway since he was seven years old. This is our sixth year together; we know each other inside and out," Greve said after the event.
"This season, this is only our second World Cup competition. In Mechelen, we came close to winning, but I missed my stride in the jump-off. Today, everything went smoothly, and we stuck to the plan!"
"I can hardly believe it; this is my first-ever World Cup victory," Greve told FEI.tv. "I’m also so happy for my horse. Highway is still young but has already won so much. I feel so honored to ride this superstar from Team Nijhof. Not just Highway, but also Grandorado, with whom I finished second yesterday. I’ve had an amazing show here in Leipzig. I’m beyond thrilled."
Highway is a fighter!
"Highway is an incredible fighter. I had a great start at the first jump. He knew exactly what to do, and I just had to follow him. He finds the distances himself. Highway is simply a freak of a horse."
