Malin Baryard Johnson has taken over the reins of Contimaloua PS, a seven-year-old mare by Continental Blue, previously ridden by Japanese rider Eiken Sato. Bred by Paul Schockemöhle, the mare has already competed internationally at the 1.35m level and recently won a seven-year-old class in Arezzo, Italy, in April.
Contimaloua PS was acquired by Baryard’s sponsor, H&M. The team expressed their excitement about the new partnership: “We can’t wait for Malin and Contimaloua to get to know each other, and we’re looking forward to following their journey together.” The mare made her international debut in March and jumped clear rounds in five out of her six appearances. In four of those classes, she placed among the top six.
Strong Bloodlines
Contimaloua is out of the mare Ramanuja (by Balou du Rouet), who comes from a proven line. Ramanuja is a half-sister to the international 1.60m stallion Sergeant Pepper I and has already produced several international show jumpers herself. The most well-known of these is Carlotta (by Conthargos), who competed successfully at 1.60m level with rider Johnny Pals.
