A newsworthy overview of October had its highlights mainly in the breaking of yet another auction record, and the long-awaited exciting denouement of the Nations Cup season during its final in Barcelona. Furthermore, the sport was dominated by the start of the World Cup season ...

October started immediately with yet another auction record! At the Woodland's International Sales, an embryo out of Niels Bruynseels' top mare, Gancia de Muze, changed hands for 95,000 euros.

Sports-wise, this month was dominated by the thrilling Nations Cup Final in Barcelona, where the Belgian team finally took the win and thus also secured their long-awaited Olympic ticket. Furthermore, the World Cup season also got kicked off. For the Western European League this was in Oslo, Morocco's Tetouan hosted the kickoff for the Arab/North African League, the first round of the North American League took place in Sacramento.

Also this month, the equestrian world lost the successful The Sixt Sense at the age of 26, as well as the former top show jumper Carusso LS La Silla at the age of 20. From Simon Delestre's team came the news that 17-year-old Chesall Zimequest was being retired form the sport. In addition, the magnificent duo Gregory Wathelet and Iron Man van de Padenborre came to an unexpected end. After eight years and a recent stunning performance in Barcelona, the stallion changed owners and thus rider.

The double world champion King Edward closed the year at the top of the WBFSH raking, allowing him to crown himself the world's best jumper of 2022. There was even more joyous news with the marriage of Henrik von Eckermann and Janika Sprunger.
