Just like last year, the Dutch were unbeatable on home turf in Rotterdam. "Top, The horses jumped fantastic, the riders were good," reacts teamchef, Jos Lansink.
It turned out to be a competition between the Irish jumping sqaud and the home-team, the Netherlands. As last rider at the start, Harrie Smolders and Monaco N.O.P., set a clear round, claiming the win for the Dutch team.
Smolders and his 14-year-old son by Cassini II were the only double clear for the Dutch team. Also Jur Vrieling and the 11-year-old Long John Silver N.O.P. (Lasino) set one clear round. Further Leopold van Asten with VDL Groep Iron Z (Charisma Z) and Maikel van der Vleuten aboard the only 8-year-old O'Baily vh Brouwershof (Darco) competed for the winning team.
The Irish team followed with a silver medal with only two points difference. For the Irish team, Michael Duffy produced a double clear aboard the 14-year-old Cinca (Casall). Germany completed the stage.
