The tenth leg of the Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping 2016/2017 Western European League was staged at the Partner Pferde fixture in the Leipziger Messe in Leipzig, Germany yesterday. 40 horse-and-rider combinations from 15 countries competed. 16 qualified for the jump-off in which Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet and the 11-year-old mare Coree came out on top. Runner-up was Kevin Staut with Reveur de Hurtebise HDC. The Frenchman already headed the Western European League table and has forged even further ahead of his nearest rival, Italy’s Lorenzo de Luca, today. The Course designer was Germany’s Frank Rothenberger. Reveur de Hurtebise and the mare Ursula who picked up four faults for Great Britain’s Scott Brash in the first round were, at the age of 16, the two oldest horses in today’s competition. There are three legs of the Western European League yet to run - at Zurich (SUI) on Sunday 29 January, at Bordeaux (FRA) on Saturday 4 February and in Gothenburg (SWE) on Sunday 26 February. The Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping 2017 Final will take place at the CenturyLink Centre in Omaha, Nebraska 27 March to 2 April 2017. Quotes: Gregory Wathelet BEL (1ST): “Since the middle of last year Coree has been improving steadily. She did here first Grand Prix in July and she’s been improving ever since. She’s always been good except at Geneva where we had a bit of a misunderstanding. I’m really delighted with her!” John Roche, FEI Jumping Director: “Congratulations to the Organising Committee here in Leipzig for the 20th anniversary show under the directorship of Volker Wulff. I’d also like to congratulate horse-owner Judith Goelkel on the outstanding performance of her lovely mare, Coree.” Standings: Longines FEI World Cup™ Jumping 2016/2017 Western European League After Round 10 in Leipzig (GER):
