On her Facebook, Swiss Show jumping rider, Janika Sprunger has announced her 17-year-old KWPN-horse, Uptown Boy (f. Odermus R) will enjoy his retirement. Sprunger and Uptown Boy competed together for over 10 years long. The last competition of the pair was last December at the CSI2* in Lier, Belgium. On her Facebook, Sprunger writes: "My best Uptown Boy ❤️ Exactely ten years ago he entered my stable as a wild naughty seven years old youngster, and with that a long beautiful journey began. First ever WC, Nations Cup, Globals - all this he thought me and jumped with me during 8years on 5* level all around the world ?. With his unique character , friendly face and his bocks in the warm up - everybody knew and loved him. I m glad to tell that he is still in great shape but with my team and his owner we decided „enaugh is enaugh“ ❤️ Ten years together and at the age of 17 we wish our best „Joey“ a happy retirement ??? and we say THANK YOU !!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ As well thanks to everybody that crossed his way and cared about and loved him by heart"
