Living Legends at the start at Indoor Brabant

The 50th anniversary of Indoor Brabant will be celebrated with a spectacular programme on Thursday 9 March. The programme will start with an competition for eventing riders (7 pm) which was introduced last year. The competition is followed by a nostalgic journey through 50 years Indoor Brabant starting with a competition for the top riders of those days of whom some will be back in the saddle after a long time. Legends One of them will be Johan Heins, who won the Grand Prix of the City of ’s-Hertogenbosch with Antrieb in 1973. Johan was riding for Germany at that time. A few years later, in 1977, Johan became European Champion, individually and with the Dutch team (with Henk Nooren, Anton Ebben en Harry Wouters van den Oudenweijer). Johan: “I have great memories of Indoor Brabant. There was always a real good ambiance and 1973 was a real highlight for me. At that time I was riding for Alwin Schockemöhle. I am looking forward to be back in the competition arena. I still ride occasionally at home but competing has been a long time ago.” Another rider who has great memories is, of course, Jos Lansink. “My best memory is without doubt my victory in the 1994 World Cup Final with Libero H. I won all three qualifications. Winning the 1992 World Cup qualifier in ‘s-Hertogenbosch is another good memory. It was my first big competition after I broke my leg in October 1991. Those years Johan Heins and Henk Nooren were by great examples.” National coach Rob Ehrens, Emile Hendrix, Bert Romp, Franke Sloothaak, Henk Nooren, Maria Gretzer and Piet Raijmakers Sr will complete the starting list. The evening will be closed with a show that travels through the 50 years together with a well known Brabant singer as a special guest and the organization of Indoor Brabant will offer the public a drink to raise a toast. An evening not to be missed!
