Michael Blake names Irish team for Friday’s Spanish Nations Cup in Gijon

Irish Show Jumping development team manager Michael Blake has named his team for tomorrow’s (Friday) five-star Nations Cup at Gijon in Spain.

Ireland, who have been drawn 11th to jump of 12 teams that will take part, will line out as follows:

Derry’s David Simpson with Gentleman
Meath’s Alexander Butler with Chili B
Cork’s Billy Twomey with Chat Botte ED
Tipperary’s Greg Broderick with Westbrook

The Gijon Nations Cup starts at 2pm Irish time with Ireland hoping to build on a good start for their riders already this week at the Spanish venue. Meath’s Alexander Butler and the Jessia Drea-owned Dekato have scored two wins in the space of 24 hours. They came out on top in Wednesday’s Lacera Trophy and followed up with another victory in the Veolia Trophy two phase class on Thursday.
