British showjumper Tim Stockdale has announced that he will take a break from competitions after being diagnosed with stomach cancer. On his official Facebook page, Stockdale wrote the following announcement last week: "We would like to announce that I will taking a short break from riding as I have been diagnosed with stomach cancer this week. It's important to focus on getting over this obstacle before we make plans for the future. I would like to thank all of my owners and sponsors for their kind words and support during this difficult time." "Overwhelmed is an understatement. We never expected so many messages yesterday and we, as a family, are still going through them all. You are all very kind. Thank you. But today I would like everyone to get behind Joseph who is jumping at Horse of the Year Show for the first time. It is going to be a big step up for both him and the horses but I'm sure they'll enjoy the experience."
