Austria wins the Nations Cup of the United Arab Emirates

Six countries sent their four best riders to Abu Dhabi into the Nations Cup of the United Arab Emirates. With a difficult course where many riders and their horses made mistakes, Austria didn't disappoint and took the victory home.

For team Austria, Christoph Obernauer rode with Kleons Renegade (v. Quintero). The pair made one mistake in their first round but stayed clear in the next ending up in the jump-off where they again managed to stay clear and delivered victory to their team. Gerfried Puck only had one penalty on Equitron Naxcel V (v. Balou du Rouet). Katharina Rhomberg was the best of her team and didn't make any mistake in the saddle of Cuma (v. Comme il Faut 5). Bianca Babanitz had a rather off-day on Caipidor (v. Capistrano 2), their results were scrapped twice.

The team of Great Britain came in second as no rider could end without any faults. Joe Whitaker was the chosen one to defend the honors of Great Britain. On the back of Hulahupe JR (v. VDL Bubalu), the Brit had one pole down for which the team was rewarded with silver. Tim Gredley had a first clear round on Medoc de Toxandria (v. Der Senaat 111) but had a pole down in the second one. Donald Whitaker did just the opposite of Gredley and also had four faults with Millfield Colette (v. Cornet Obolensky). William Funnell had a rather rough start with Equine America Billy Picador (v. Billy Mexico) but ended with a clear second round.

Ireland closed the top three. Jessica Burke had four points in total with Nikey HH (v. Herald van 't Ruytershof) just as Michael Duffy had with Cinca (v. Casall). Shane Breen had in both rounds with Cuick Star Kervec (v. Quick Star) a pole down, ending with eight points. Trevor Breen decided not to ride a second round on Germaine W (v. Eldorado vd Zeshoek).
