Last weekend, Belgium won the Nations Cup final in Barcelona for the third time. Afterwards, Belgium's national coach, Peter Weinberg, was asked about the secret of their success. "There is no secret, our Belgian riders are just fantastically good ..."
"This final brought a lot of pressure, because we still had to qualify for the Olympic Games in Paris. Fortunately, the Belgians can perform well under pressure and they knew what was at stake," Weinberg continues.
"On top of all this, the horses jumped tremendous. Barcelona is just great fun to be present every time! Frankly, it is also already our third time that we have won here so maybe we are a bit biased," the national coach laughs.
"We should be very proud. We started in Spain with both experienced riders and new talent, and neither of them disappointed us. This shows once again the strength of the Belgian combinations and hope for the future."
