"On Thursday 5 August, in the evening, Urvoso du Roch, the horse of Nicolas Delmotte, got colic. Taken care of by the veterinarian of the French team, the 13-year-old Selle Français is doing well. He is resting and undergoing medical treatment," said an announcement from the French federation.
To preserve the horse's health, the staff of the French Equestrian Federation, Nicolas Delmotte and Marie-Claudine Morlion, the horse's owner, had no choice but to withdraw him from the Olympic competition.
The FFE thanks Marie-Claudine Morlion, who has remained in France, for her confidence and congratulates Nicolas Delmotte on his performance in the Olympic competition and his 12th place in the individual final.
Mathieu Billot and Quel Filou 13, owned by the Billot stable, and Benjamin and Valentine Garreau will take their place in the team competition.
