Olympic Games will go on ... with or without COVID-19

Next year the Olympic Games in Tokio will take place, with or without the COVID-19. That states John Coates, president of the International Olympic Comité (IOC) and also the head of the coordination team of the Games in Tokio. The Games will start on July 23rd.

Coates stated 'Japan looks at it as the Games of reconstruction, after the destructive Tsunami in 2011. After Covid they now consider the Games as the figurative light at the end of the tunnel.'

At the moment it is unclear how the event will be constructed, although Japan also hopes to be able to allow spectators as well. Nevertheless it is still possible the Games will be open only for athletes and their crew.
