Alberto Michan and Bugatti score CSI5* win in Monterrey

Alberto Michan (ISR) and Bugatti have not been partnered long, but they haven't needed much time to find their stride together. The duo has earned a top-10 finish at every Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ) location they have competed at this season.

Their latest record includes a win in San Miguel de Allende and again on Friday in the Afflux CSI5* 1.45m in Monterrey, Mex.

Bugatti, a 16-year-old KWPN gelding (Heartbreaker x Pilot) owned by Eduardo Leon, was one of only two horses to post a sub 70-second time. Their speed bested Mexico's Alberto Sanchez-Cozar riding Union de la Nutria (Diamant de Semilly x Kannan), who finished as the runner up. Third-place went to Erynn Ballard (CAN) and Narcotique v/h Dingenshof (Harley VDL x Chacco Blue).

"He loves winning. He's a horse that enjoys coming in the ring and trying. I think that's what makes him special. He enjoys his job and he loves to be a winner. This show has so much history and so many of the best riders in the world have been on these grounds. You cannot top this facility, and it's breathtaking to come here. I think that inspires us riders to be motivated to do well," Alberto Michan said after his win.

Action at MLSJ Monterrey II resumes on Saturday when the MLSJ CSI5* Team Competition takes center stage at 6pm. Phase 8 of MLSJ continues at Club Hípico La Silla in Monterrey, Mex, through November 13.
