Audrey Schulze (USA) led her first-ever victory gallop in international competition on Saturday after winning the $40,000 CI Assante Wealth Management CSI2* Grand Prix aboard Darquito.
The 11-year-old gelding (D'Inzeo 6 x Contefino 2) came into her string just a few weeks ago after having much international success with Irish rider Andrew Bourns. Together, they bested Kent Farrington (USA), who settled for second on Greya (Colestus x Contender), and third-place rider Grant Seger (USA) aboard Yoghi FLP (Quaid I x Stakkato) for owner Fox Lair Performance, LLC.
"The second I picked up the canter on him, I knew I would love him. He's an incredible horse and I knew he was scopey just from his canter. I've gotten to know him over the last month and shown at three very different venues in Michigan, Angelstone and here in Ottawa. It's been nice learning him in all those different environments," Audrey Schulze said.
