Behind the scenes in Doha: "The horses that tested positive are treated in isolation"

Yesterday the news got out that also in Doha two horses tested positive for rhino. This created a "panic reaction" since the top of the world is currently competing in Qatar. "Panic is totally unnecessary, however," a source tells our editors who prefers to remain anonymous. "All horses were tested a week before they were to fly and found negative. Yesterday, two horses indeed developed a slight fever but these horses are currently in isolation where their situation is being closely monitored."

"Moreover, the news from Valencia came to light when our horses were already in Doha. The two horses that were in Valencia were then immediately quarantined. Both horses then tested negative. Yesterday, only one of the two horses developed a slight fever, after which both horses that came from Valencia were quarantined. The horses were immediately transferred to the veterinary clinic where they will continue to be treated in isolation. Since last week, all horses are checked twice a day and veterinarians come several times a day to check everything. On Monday morning, all horses had a new swab test here at the competition".
