Brilliant British Grand Prix victory for Holly Smith and Denver in Vejer de la Frontera

  • by Equnews Editorial
  • 30-11-2020
p>Holly Smith was absolutely delighted with her wonderful gelding Denver (Albführen's Memphis x Chico's Boy) after their victory in the very hotly contested CSIO3* 1.50m Grand Prix in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain today. There were 18 horse-and-rider combinations through to the jump-off, highlighting the sheer quality in the class.

The jump-off track was a real challenge from the very first fence as the course twisted and turned with difficult lines and pace changes needed throughout. With great support from the other riders and team members, Holly and Denver attacked the course from the beginning and flew through the finish line in 36.76s to take the lead. David Will (GER) and C Vier 2 (Cardento 933 x Concorde) took the second place after having stopped the clock in 37.00s. In the end, Irish riders took the third, fourth, sixth and seventh places: Denis Lynch with Cristello (Numero Uno x Voltaire) was in the lead for a while but ended up in third place ahead of Mark Mc Auley with Jasco VD Bisschop (Dulf vd Bisschop x Krunch de Breve) in fourth. French rider Olivier Robert ended fifth with Vivaldi des Meneaux (Chippendale Z x Bamako).
