In Friday's 1.60m class it was Daniel Deusser who gave the home crowds a popular win. Riding the 9-year-old Killer Queen VDM, Deusser topped the RWE Prize of North Rhine Westphalia. Last year Deusser and Killer Queen Conquered the Youngster Cup in Aachen.
QUICK RESULTS
1. Daniel Deusser - Killer Queen VDM
2. Olivier Philippaerts - H&M Cue Channa 42
3. Luciana Diniz - Vertigo du Desert
A total of twelve riders qualified for the Jump-Off in this Grand Prix qualifier. Deusser and his daughter of Eldorado vd Zeshoek blew the competition aside with over a second separating him from runner-up, Belgium's Olivier Philippaerts and H&M Cue Channa (Cardento).
Most faults were made on the open water or in the triple combination. "Also Killer Queen jumped the water differently today, " said Deusser after his victory. "It seemed like she spooked a bit. Maybe I don't train her enough on the water."
The stage was completed by Luciana Diniz aboard Vertigo du Desert (Mylord Carthago). Diniz and the Selle Francais-gelding teamed up earlier this year in March. Willem Greve secured his fourth spot with Carambole (San Patrignano Cassini) while Niels Bruynseels completed the top five in the saddle of Jenson van 't Meulenhof (Vagabond de la Pomme).
