David Will wins the CSIO5* 1.50m Longines Grand Prix qualifier in Abu Dhabi

The CSIO5* President of the UAE Showjumping Cup in Abu Dhabi (UAE) got under way on Wednesday with the 1.50m Longines Grand Prix qualifier. With 43 horse-and-rider combinations on the start list, a total of eleven pairs cleared the first-round track battling it out in the deciding jump-off.

With only 0.03 seconds advantage it was Germany's David  Will aboard the 9-year-old Zangersheide-gelding, Darius de Kezeg (Darco) who speeded to victory. The pair was followed by Russia's Vladimir Tuganov with Suspens Floreval (Clinton).

Aboard the 11-year-old vvizalaty (Newton de Kreisker), developed by Max Haunhorst, Mouda Zeyada completed the stage. The combination was followed by Mohd Osama El Borai with Quintero (Quasimodo Z) in fourth and Kristaps Neretnieks with Moon Ray (Cornet Obolensky) in fifth.

Earlier in the afternoon, the CSIO5* 1.45m UAE Equestrian Federation Speed Stakes went to Khaled Abdulrahman Al Mobty (KSA) on Grunnerger Kwiebus (Ustinov) with a time of 63.27 seconds. Abdullah Al Sharbatly (KSA) and Boomerang (Orlando) placed second, while the third place went to Trevor Breen (IRL) aboard Z7 Caretina (Coltaire Z).
