In Madrid, the CSI5* riders just came into action for the first time today. Later today the Copa El Rey is still on the programme but in anticipation of that a 1m45 class in two phases was already jumped. The victory went to Derin Demirsoy. He rode the 14-year-old KWPN horse Alsace (by Diamant de Semilly)) clear through the second phase in 24.44 seconds.
In doing so, he was exactly half a second faster than Olivier Philippaerts who took home second place with Mr Idol S (by Plot Blue). This combination also managed to record a clear round behind their name, stopping the chrono after 24.94 seconds. Eoin McMahon and Christa 27 (by Christon), an 11-year-old Holstein mare, completed the podium after a clear round in 25.96 seconds.
Patrick Stühlmeyer (Quando Vengo) and Jérôme Guery (Juristo van het Hagenhof) completed the top five. Although Guery jumped a very fast time with the 14-year-old BWP rider, he unfortunately also knocked one pole out of the scoop in the process.
