The new online show 'The Insider', presented by the Global Champions League, had Geir Gulliksen as their guest yesterday. Frederik De Backer, the host of the show, asked the Norwegian rider about how he got his famous 'Jimmy' nickname.
"It's all the Whitakers' fault", Geir laughed. "When I first came to England, I was riding with the Whitaker family. The father of John and Michael couldn't pronounce my name right and one day he just told me 'I'm going to call you Jimmy from now on', so he did. That's why when I'm riding in the UK, the speaker still announce me as 'Jimmy Gulliksen'. I absolutely don't mind, I listen to both names".
