The 1.50m evening competition in Swiss Basel delivered top-level sport. Hans-Dieter Dreher ultimately jumped to victory with his 12-year-old Cous Cous 3 (Cachas). The pair finished more than 3 seconds ahead of Henrik von Eckermann.
Dreher and the 12-year-old gelding relegated the world number one show jumper, von Eckermann with the 11-year-old KWPN mare, Iliana (Cardento), to the second position. French show jumper Kevin Staut completed the top three riding his World Cup mare, Beau de Laubry Z (Bisquet Balou C vd Mispelaere).
With just under two seconds difference, Kevin Jochems followed in fourth place with the 12-year-old Casall son, Casillas van de Helle. The fifth position also belonged to the Netherlands, with compatriot Lars Kersten riding Funky Fred Marienshof Z (Fantomas de Muze) flawlessly in fifth place.
