Leopold van Asten will start with his horse VDL Groep Iron for TeamNL in the League of Nations™️ during CHIO Rotterdam this coming Friday. Van Asten replaces Willem Greve and Grandorado TN N.O.P. in the team, which also includes Kim Emmen, Harrie Smolders, and Maikel van der Vleuten. Greve will still compete at CHIO Rotterdam and will prepare with the stallion Highway TN N.O.P. for the main event on Sunday, the Grand Prix, which they magnificently won last year. This decision was made in consultation with national coach Jos Lansink, who explained why Leopold van Asten and his grey gelding VDL Groep Iron are replacing Willem Greve and Grandorado TN N.O.P. "I know Willem's horses well enough. To qualify for the Olympic Games, Grandorado has traveled extensively through Europe in recent weeks. It is good to give him some rest now in preparation for Paris."

Last match of the four

The League of Nations™️ is the top competition launched this year by the International Equestrian Federation with the best ten countries based on the riders' world rankings. Rotterdam is the last of the four competitions before the final on October 6 in Barcelona. Abu Dhabi and Ocala have been completed, while the match on May 31 in Sankt Gallen had to be canceled due to heavy rain. This means that the standings are based on three competitions. The top eight countries will qualify for the final. TeamNL is currently in seventh place in the standings after finishing ninth in Abu Dhabi and fourth in Ocala. A good result in Rotterdam will secure a place in the final for the orange jackets. Ireland leads the standings with 190 points, followed by Germany (160 points) and Switzerland (140 points). The Netherlands has 115 points. A victory in Rotterdam earns 100 points.
