Maikel van der Vleuten crowns himself Dutch champion!

In Deurne, the big denouement of the Dutch championships was just held: the championship for Seniors. The riders were presented with two very tough basic rounds; several riders who were high up in the rankings were unable to keep their clear rounds today, causing a lot of shifts in the standings. At the last three combinations, it therefore became very exciting as basically nobody could afford a mistake. Maikel van der Vleuten brought the pressure to the provisional leader of the rankings and thus also the very last starter: Jur Vrieling. Van der Vleuten did what was expected of him: jumping a clear round in the saddle of O I'Bailey vh Brouwershof. With that, Vrieling's fate was in his own hands. However, he got a fault early in the second round, which meant gold for Van der Vleuten.

It would not stop at that one mistake for Vrieling either, so he eventually had to make peace with fifth place. Second place went to Kim Emmen. With Island VG (by Zirocco Blue VDL) she managed to leave all the obstacles in the scoops today, but got one point for time in the first round. Harrie Smolders and Uricas van de Kattevennen (by Uriko) completed the top three.

Leopold van Asten (VDL Groep Iron Z) and Jur Vrieling (Fiumicino van de Kalevallei) completed the top five.
