The closing show of Wednesday's competition at Devon Horse Show was the CSI4* Main Line Challenge. It was McLain Ward who took home the jackpot.
47 combinations out of five different countries prepared to battle the course build by Anderson Lima. This class was the biggest of the Devon Horse Show yet and promised lots of spectacle and lured a big audience to the event. The class was split into two phases and had 12 obstacles in the running. 20 horse and rider combinations were able to stay of the wood throughout the two phases, with McLain Ward being the fastest of them all. In the saddle of First Lady (by Don Diarado), the American rider stayed only four hundredths of a second ahead of Jessica Mendoza. The British came in second with Chaning Tatum (v. Canturano). The top three was concluded by the American Laura Chapot and Chandon Blue (v. Chacco-Blue).
Afterwards, Ward said: "She's a young horse and we've been developing her, and now she's stepping up to the bigger classes."
