His top horse Explosion W set two clear rounds and with 49.57 seconds was just faster than Henrik von Eckermann, who finished second with King Edward in 51.16 seconds. The bronze was for Jerome Guery with Quel Homme de Hus. They made one fault in the second round. Kevin Staut and Tolede de Mescam Harcour finished fourth, Scott Brash and Hello Jefferson fifth.
