The Amateur Rider Association of America (ARAA) is excited to announce that it will be hosting a panel to discuss a new USEF rule pertaining to the Amateur-Owner Jumper Divisions.
ARAA invites everyone to join them on Wednesday March 1st at 1:30pm at the Wellington Club to discuss the new USEF rule applicable to the Amateur-Owner jumper divisions. Panel members Ariane Stiegler, Equestrian Sport Productions president Michael Stone, Anne Kursinski, Kevin Babington, Peter Leone, David Distler, & Anthony D'Ambrosio will discuss the benefits of the USEF rule and how it will better the sport of show jumping.
The Amateur Rider Association of America was founded in 2014 by Ariane Stiegler, an amateur rider on the East Coast, who has made it her goal to set division specifications for all three heights offered in the Amateur-Owner jumper divisions.
The organization set out to standardize the heights of the classes with low Amateur-Owner jumpers at 1.20m and low jumper Classics at 1.25m. Medium Amateur-Owner jumpers will be set at 1.30m, with the medium jumper Classics set at 1.35m and lastly, High Amateur-Owner jumpers set at 1.40m with high jumper Classics set at 1.45m.
"We are extremely excited to see USEF set standard heights for the three Amateur-Owner jumper divisions. It is our hope that these three regulated heights will allow a level playing field for all competitors at A rated shows across the country," said Stiegler.
A set height will allow horses and riders to be better prepared and know what to expect while in the ring. With clearer expectations and a universal standard for horses and riders, the overall goal is to reduce the risk of injury and also the number of scratches due to inconsistency in course height.
