Lorenzo de Luca and the 12 years old Stallion Cash du Plessis took the top honors in Thursday's CSIO5* 1.50m Longines Ranking class at Piazza di Siena, Rome, Italy.
70 combinations tackled the 1.50m high course on the grass arena of the Piazza di Siena in Rome, with 22 of them finishing faultlessly.
Lorenzo de Luca (ITA) was the sixth to start in the saddle of Cash du Plessis and immediately set the bar high with the Orient Express Hdc offspring. None of the combinations that followed could beat their time. Zoe Conter (BEL) had the 10-year-old mare Tombola Z under the saddle for this task and guided the product of breeders Witters and Verschueren flawlessly to the finish line about halfway through the competition, but it wasn't quite fast enough to dethrone De Luca from his leading position. Giulia Martinengo Marquet (ITA) jumped to third place with Scuderia 1918 Calle Deluxe (Cesano 2).
Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) started on the 9-year-old daughter of Vigo d'Arsouilles, Poppemieke Jw van de Moerhoeve. With the BWP mare bred by JW Stables and de Moerhoeve, Philippaerts also remained faultless and finished fourth. Jörne Sprehe (GER) was seen on the 10-year-old Toulon son Toys, finishing fifth.
