Marcus Ehning and Pret a Tout took home the World Cup-leg in Madrid. With the Hiram Chambertin-gelding he raced trough the jump-off. Putting a time of 43.30 on the clock, he was the man to beat. Christian Ahlmann tried his best with Dominator 2000 Z (by Diamant de Semilly) but was about a quarter of a second slower, finishing in 43.53.
Belgium's Pieter Devos and Espoir are the bronze medalists. Espoir, a Surcouf de Revel-son jumped a clear round in 43.66. Emilio Bicocchi and Evita SG Z (by Verdi TN) were the first combination in the jump-off to jump a clear round. Their time of 44.93 placed them eventually fourth.
Maikel van der Vleuten, aboard Beauville Z were the last combination to start in the jump-off. Unfortunately, they dropped a fence, placing Van der Vleuten and the Bustique-son fifth.
Max Kühner and Chardonnay (by Clarimo) come in sixth, beating Celine Schoonbroodt- de Azevedo and Chepetta. Schoonbroodt - de Azevedo was in the qualifying round the first to jump a clear round withing time and therefore the first to start in the jump-off. It wasn't easy, and with her Chepetto-mare, she accumulated four faults.
Irish Denis Lynch and Marc McAuley also participated in the jump-off. Lynch, in the saddle of Rubens LS La Silla (by Rebozo LS La Silla) also had four faults and finishted eight. Marc McAuley, aboard Mieballo (by Flyinge Quite Easy) accumulated eight points and finished ninenth.
Bill Twomey and Kimba Flamenco, a Je T'aime Flamneco-son, close the top ten. They jumped a clear round in the qualifier, but recieved one point for time.
