A thrilling second round of the CSI5*-W 1.50m class at Madrid Horse Week was won by none other than Nicola Philippaerts! After an impressive first round on Derby de Riverland (Kannan), the Belgian continued his form into the final.
Riding the ten-year-old gelding by Kannan, bred by SCEA Riverland, Philippaerts entered the arena as the penultimate rider after setting a sharp time in the initial round. In the decisive round, he guided Derby de Riverland to the finish in 35.48, securing victory in the class. Roger Yves Bost followed in second place, crossing the finish line in 35.72s aboard Ballerine du Vilpion (Baloubet du Rouet). Henrik von Eckermann couldn't replicate his win from yesterday with Dzara Dorchival and settled for third with a time of 35.78s riding the Qlassic Bois Margot offspring.
Niels Bruynseels also upheld Belgian pride, piloting Nauwsika van de Pereboom (Thunder vd Zuuthoeve, bred by Godfried Storme) to a faultless fifth place. Austrian rider Max Kühner on Eic Julius Caesar, a KWPN gelding by Couleur Rubin, claimed the fourth spot ahead of them.
