Belgian reining team claims Gold at the World Championships

Next week the Horseball crew kicks off their own World Championships. Today the (European) reining riders finalized their FEI World Championship in Givrins, Switzerland. A total of three categories take the start; Seniors, Young Riders and Juniors. Today the Senior riders battled it out for the Team medals. Belgium's chef d'equipe Dany Welter guided his team to the Gold Medal. Cira Baeck (Whizasunnysailor), Bernard Fonck (Smart N Sparking), Ann Fonck-Pels (Nic Rocochet) and Piet Mestdagh (Reining Whiz) collected a total score of 661.5 points. Germany claimed the silver medal after a score of 660.0 points. The bronze medal was reserved for Austria who collected 653.5 points. Host country, Switzerland, ranked seventh. Still it is hoping to bring home some individual medals or young rider, junior team medals. Tomorrow the juniors and young riders start their action.
