Endurance Canada Names WEG Canadian Endurance Team

Endurance Canada is pleased to announce the team for the Endurance Championship at the 2014 Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy. The team in alphabetical order Rider / Hometown / Horse Kathy Irvine / Blackfoot, AB / Nightwinds Savannah, 16-year Canadian Arabian mare owned by the rider Jessica Manness / Dugald, MB / Greater Glide, 13-year-old Arabian gelding owned by the rider Leanna Marchant / Calgary, AB / Samson's Fire, 15-year-old Arabian cross gelding owned by the rider Yvette Vinton / Morriston, FL / Petit Loup d'Jolie, 11-year-old Arabian cross gelding owned by Cecile Dumas' or Teese, 14-year-old Arabian gelding owned by the rider The team will be accompanied by chef d'équipe, Maura Leahy; team Canada veterinarian, Glenn Sinclair DVM; and assistant team Canada veterinarian, Roxy Bell DVM. The Endurance competition will take place on Thursday, August 28 on a 160 km course through the French countryside. The race will consist of six loops and a must-see will be the loop that runs along the stunningly beautiful Bay of Mont Saint Michel (pictured below). Celebrated every four years and alternating with the Olympic Games, the World Equestrian Games are undoubtedly the biggest equestrian event in the world. This year, in Normandy, from August 23 - September 7, the finest athletes from 76 nations will compete against each other in the eight official Fédération Equestre Internationale disciplines of jumping, dressage, eventing, driving, reining, vaulting, endurance and para-dressage.
