The cards have been shuffled at the European Jumping Championships in A Coruña. Course builder Santiago Varela did not make it easy for the riders today. Five riders had to give up during their rounds, and Daniel Coyle, yesterday's winner, withdrew his horse Legacy from the competition. In the end, Richard Vogel took the top spot in the individual standings. Team GB took the lead in the team standings.
That it was a challenging course, we spoke course builder Santiago Varela earlier about. Today we noticed that it was not easy for every combination.
The Longines triple jump proved to be a stumbling point for many combinations. As many as five combinations withdrew due to a refusal, and one combination had to leave the course after a double refusal on the triple jump. Even Team GB, currently in the lead, had to suffer.
Anyway, also today, Richard Vogel and United Touch S (Untouched) were unbeatable. With the withdrawal of Daniel Coyle, his chances grew and he took the lead. Donald Whitaker and Millfield Colette also showed up handsomely again today. With 0;67 points, they secured second place. Julien Epaillard and Donatello d'Auge (Jarnac) went clear and gave France third place in the individual standings.
Scott Brash rode a fantastic round for Great Britain in the saddle of Hello Folie (Luidam), stranding him just outside the top three. Completing the top five is Steve Guerdat and Albfuehren's Iashin Sitte (Bamako de Muze) with 1.19 points.
The team rankings remain the same for now:
1. Great Britain
2. Germany
3. Belgium
