Just now in Hickstead one of the highlights of the weekend was run: the Speed Derby. This class of the CSI4* competition is known as one of the most difficult derbies in the world so the audience knew one thing for sure: they would get value for money. In the end, no one managed to clear the course without any jumping faults. So it came down to being the fastest four-pointer. That honour went to Ella Dalton. She rode Quality Robies N Diamonds, a 10-year-old mare, to the finish in 101.72 seconds.
In doing so, she was three seconds faster than William Rekert who rode Concert Z (by Candillo 3) to second place. This combination also completed the course with one jumping fault and stopped the chrono after 104.79 seconds. Jay Halim completed the podium. Riding Zuniek vd Tojopehoeve Z (by VDL Zirocco Blue), he finished in 106.21 seconds, also with one jumping fault.
Ryan Lockwood (Hyperion VP Wisbecq) and Michael Pender (HHS Fortune) completed the top five.
