The FEI has published a list of proposed changes to the Equine Prohibited Substances List (EPSL), compiled by the Equine Prohibited Substances List Group – a subcommittee of the FEI Veterinary Committee. This announcement was made in the FEI Annual Report 2024!
One of the proposed updates is to classify octopamine – already a banned substance – as a specified substance, due to its natural occurrence in certain plants and invertebrates. Additionally, the proposal includes adding trilostane, deferoxamine, isosorbide, cabergoline, etidronic acid, carmoterol, valsartan, eprosartan, and vatinoxan – substances not previously listed – as banned substances.
Any approved changes will come into effect on 1 January 2026.
