Felix Koller leaves Stal Tops for Andreas Knippling

Felix Koller has a new employer. After a year in the prestigious Valkenswaard (NED) with Global Champions Tour founder Jan Tops, the 24-year-old Upper Austrian moves to Germany. To be more precise, to Andreas Knippling at Gut Wahnenhardt, where Felix Koller wants to get back to his old top form and will get the best opportunities to do so.

There are several reasons for the change, says Felix Koller (Upper Austria) in an EQWO.net interview, overall the Upper Austrian sees more opportunities for him personally in a smaller stable to get back to the top of the world internationally. "It was a good time, I was able to take a lot with me for the future and I also learned a lot about the business. Valkenswaard is home to the top show jumping sport, with the Global Champions Tour and everything, of course I could benefit from that."

For the future job, a long-term cooperation was especially important to the 2018 European Young Rider silver medalist. He has hopefully found that with Andreas Knippling (GER) in Cologne-Bonn. The German is a jumper trainer and runs Gut Wahnenhardt, a competition & training stable. Knippling is internationally successful in sport up to 1.60m and five-star, among others he was allowed to represent the German colors at 14 Nations Cups. With Felix Koller he now gets profound support from a rider who - like himself - was allowed to learn with Paul Schockemöhle.

Felix Koller has about ten horses to train in the future, and he is currently in the familiarization phase, after all it is his first week in Cologne. However, the first tournament is already on the horizon: this weekend he is off to Lier in Belgium! The Upper Austrian's big goal is to be allowed to ride in Nations Cups again and to get back to the top in the league of the best show jumpers.
