A few days before the start of the European Championships in Germany, the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) has confirmed that Milan will be the host city of the next edition in 2023.
The riders will compete in the heart of the Snai San Siro racecourse, the one of the most prestigious and modern horseriding venues in the world, located in the heart of the Italian city. For the moment, no date has been defined yet except that the event is approximately scheduled for the beginning of September 2023. After Rome (1963) and San Patrignano (2005), this is the third time that Italy obtains the organization of the European Senior Championships.
Before the award of the European Championships, the Snai San Siro racecourse was renovated in order to regularly host competitions and hosts a multi-purpose equestrian center. The installations were put on the front of the stage last July thanks to the Milano San Siro Jumping Cup which organized a CSI 3*. Currently, the historic racetrack stands can accommodate around 8,000 people, and an additional 10,000 seats will be built for the championship. “We are delighted that this important championship is awarded to Milan, a hub for horse enthusiasts, home to the unique Snai San Siro racecourse, which combines tradition and modernity and is the ideal setting to welcome the best combinations in Europe." Simone Perillo said in an interview.
