Good news from Oliva: situation under control and several horses on their way home

A few weeks ago, the equestrian world was once again rocked by an EHV-1 outbreak. This time, the Oliva international competition was affected. The organisers quickly took measures and the competition was cancelled. The horses that were infected were quarantined. The organisation now announces that the situation is under control and that another 14 horses have been allowed to leave for home.

"We are relieved to announce that the situation at Centro Ecuestre Oliva Nova, following the confirmed cases of EHV-1 that occurred during Spring MET II 2023, is under control. The 56 horses currently remaining at our venue will start departing for their home stables when the FEI and the Federal Veterinary Authority’s strict testing requirements have been fulfilled. Fourteen of them have already received a green light to leave the venue, after returning negative tests as per the requirements.

Ten horses, without any significant clinical symptoms, have been moved to the University Equine Hospital in Valencia (CEU) for prevention and close monitoring.

Considering the development at the venue, we are confident that Spring MET IV – scheduled from April 4-23 2023 – can go ahead as planned", they state.
