Now also second horse tested positive for EHV-1 after international competition in Opglabbeek

A second horse that was present at an international show in Opglabbeek has tested positive for EHV-1. The FEI announced this yesterday. The horses are now in a quarantine stable away from the show grounds.

"The FEI was informed that a horse, which was in the stable next to the previously positive tested horse, tested positive for EHV-1. It concerns a horse of the same rider. A second test has yet to be done. The other three horses of the rider, tested negative for the virus. The horses were previously in isolation in Opglabbeek, but have now been removed from the competition area. None of the horses showed clinical symptoms. The five horses were blocked in the FEI database and will have to respect the quarantine period of 21 days", said an announcement of the FEI.

The organisation of the show in Opglabbeek has in the meantime informed all riders who had horses in the same tent. They have also offered to pay for the PCR test for their horses to be on the safe side.
