One horse tested positive for EHV-1 after competition in Belgium

The FEI reports that after the CSI in Opglabbeek one horse was tested positive for rhino. The horse showed no clinical symptoms but has been placed in isolation. The other four horses of the rider are also in quarantine. They too are showing no symptoms.

The FEI says it was informed of a positive EHV-1 test of a horse returning from the competition in Opglabbeek. The horse was negative before he went to the competition. The rider's other four horses were isolated and the stables thoroughly cleaned, disinfected and sealed as required by FEI Return to Competition measures. No other horses were stabled within six metres of this rider's horses.

The FEI has stressed that the organiser of the competition fully complied with FEI protocols. Events in Belgium and the Netherlands do not have to take additional measures, the FEI said.
