The final day of Jumping Mechelen has just officially got underway. Forty combinations lined up for an international 1.50m class. In the end, thirteen combinations advanced to an exciting jump-off, where Koen Vereecke claimed victory.
Koen Vereecke came out on top with the BWP mare Quinoa de la Liniere (Mosito van het Hellehof). After a faultless first round in 68.40 seconds, the pair produced another clear in the jump-off and stopped the clock in 36.91 seconds to win this Stephex Last Chance.
Gilles Thomas confirmed his strong form by taking second place with Qiara de Kalvarie (Sea Coast Don’t Touch Tiji Her). They were also double clear and finished the jump-off in 37.37 seconds after a clear first round in 70.82 seconds, keeping the margin to the winner very small.
Third place went to Maikel van der Vleuten with the BWP stallion Quastor vd Heffinck (Rock’n Roll Semilly), also faultless in both rounds. Their times of 69.93 seconds in the first round and 37.38 seconds in the jump-off secured them a podium spot, less than a tenth of a second behind second place.
Jenny Krogsaeter followed in fourth with Laurier (VDL Zirocco Blue) after a clear first round in 68.31 seconds and a faultless jump-off in 38.51 seconds.
