Gilles Thomas and Qalista DN make history in Mechelen: ‘I didn't come here for second place, I came here to win.’

© Houou Tomita

The FEI Jumping World Cup in Mechelen was once again an absolute highlight of the 43rd edition of Jumping Mechelen. In front of sold-out stands and a frenzied atmosphere in the Nekkerhal, the audience was treated to sport of the highest level. In a competition in which five combinations qualified for the jump-off, it was ultimately Gilles Thomas who secured victory on home soil with the nine-year-old Qalista DN. A victory that made a deep impression not only in sporting terms, but also emotionally.
