Ireland announces Olympic dressage team

Horse Sport Ireland will nominate Kildare’s Judy Reynolds and Vancouver K be nominated to the Olympic Council of Ireland to represent Ireland at the 2016 summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.  Judy Reynolds will ride Vancouver K, a horse owned by her parents Joe and Kathleen Reynolds the horse on which Judy set a new Irish Dressage record recently.Roland Tong and his horse Rybrook Ambience owned by Mrs S Kirkpatrick & Mr Roland Tong have been named as reserve. Speaking after the announcement Kevin McGuinness Chairman of Horse Sport Ireland’s Dressage High Performance Committee said: “Judy has continuously gone out and broken Irish records in her bid to secure a place for Ireland at the Rio Olympics. In the process she has raised the profile of dressage in Ireland, competing against the best in the world. Judy and Vancouver K will travel to Rio on the strength of some outstanding performances and we wish her every success.” Judy Reynold’s nomination brings Team Ireland Equestrian’s representation at the Rio Olympic Games to six athletes and one athlete competing at the Rio Paralympic Games, they include; Greg Broderick in Showjumping, Clare Abbott, Jonty Evans, Mark Kyle and Padraig McCarthy will compete on the eventing team, Judy Reynolds will compete in Dressage and one athlete will compete at the Paralympic Games and this athlete will be confirmed shortly.
