Patrick van der Meer leaves the belgian riders behind in Mechelen

This year the international horse show in Mechelen no longer holds a Dressage Masters, nevertheless the crowd got to see some excellent dressage work in the CDI4* this morning. The Belgian combinations dominated the class, although Dutch Patrick van der Meer rode to victory aboard his 9-years-old KWPN-sire, Chinook (by Vivaldi). Van der Meer excelled in front of judges Mariette Sanders-Vangansewinkel, Freddy Leymann and Susanne Baarup, good for a total of 70,759%. Belgium's Jorinde Verwimp scored the best for judges Jacques van Daele and Germany's Peter Holler. Verwimp and Ludo Philippaerts' 13-year-old KWPN-gelding, Wendor (by Kennedy) followed in a second place with a total of 69,763%. Isabel Cool followed in a third spot with 69,158%. Cool and the 9-year-old Constand (by Vic) impressed Holler who was judging at C. The top five in this CDI4* class was completed by Katrien Verreet with Bailamos Biolley (by Sir Donnerhall) in fourth and Simon Missiaen with Charlie (by Florencio) in five).
