The second round of the 'Sires of the World' has been ridden. The German Patrick Stühlmeyer jumped to victory in Lanaken on the back of Drako de Maugre (v. Kannan) and was the best out of ten combinations.
In a thriller of a jump-off with only ten combinations at the start the nine years old stallion not only jumped a clear round but was also the fastest finishing in a time of 37,24. Gudrun Patteet secured some girlpower in the top three and stopped the clock at 37,67 on the back of Sea Coast Enjoy Z (v. Emerald), leaving them in second place. The bronze stayed in Belgium too with a third place for Jens Vandenberk and Faldiano (v. Heartbreaker).
On fourth place was Gilles Thomas in the saddle of Feromas van Beek Z (v. Fantomas de Muze) who had Maartje Verberckmoes behind them. Verberckmoes jumped already finished top ten yesterday and now jumped to a fifth place with Guidam's Willow the Second (v. Willow).
"An important class to win for Drako's breeding career" - Patrick Stühlmeyer
During the press conference, Stülmeyer was full of praise for his stallion. "He's so fast, so careful ... He's a real French horse, I can ride him with his head a little bit up and then we can go full speed!", the German said. Stühlmeyer rides this horse for six months now, and today was just a perfect day for them both. He hopes that he can still ride the 9 year old stallion next year during a Nations Cup, and suspects that Drako will have a bright future ahead of him. Winning this class was very important for his breeding career, next year he'll start in the Schockemöhle breeding station.
