Boyd Exell has been crowned World Champion in Four-in-Hand Driving in Aachen. The Australian driver finished the championship on a total score of 142.64 points, ahead of Belgium's Dries Degrieck and American Chester Weber. Dutch drivers Bram Chardon and Koos de Ronde completed the top five.
Boyd Exell claimed the world title with Checkmate, Daan 8, Hero and Mister Bono van 't Hooge. The Australian produced a clear round in the cones, finishing in 185.59 seconds. He held on to his lead to secure the World Championship with a final score of 142.64 points.
The silver medal went to Dries Degrieck. With Karpos, Kompleet VS, Lancelot and Most Perfect, the Belgian also went clear in the cones, finishing in 187.25 seconds. He ended the championship on 148.85 points. Chester Weber completed the podium with 156.77 points. The American incurred three penalties in the cones with Despardo, Julius V, Amadeus and Nico Teusje C and finished in 193.32 seconds.
Bram Chardon finished fourth. Driving Freddy, Iowa, Jantijn V and Maestro, the Dutchman produced a clear cones round in 183.51 seconds, the fastest time among the top five. His final score was 157.20 points.
Fifth place went to Koos de Ronde. With Alino, Dancer W, Emir Morocco and Idaho H, the Dutchman recorded the fastest marathon time of the entire field, stopping the clock at 108.39 seconds. Three penalties in the cones brought his final score to 164.59 points.
