On Sept. 6, Fusain du Defey, a respected Anglo-Arab stallion, passed away at the age of 31. The last years of his life he enjoyed a well-deserved peaceful old age at Le Buissy breeding farm, where he was housed after his successful career as a breeding stallion. This news was announced by Aurélien Lafargue, president of the syndicate Génétiqu'Anglo.
Fusain du Defey made a name for himself in the show jumping sport, where he excelled for many years under the saddle of rider Michel Faumont, where he became a fixture in the sport. “We will remember Fusain as an exceptionally talented jumper, always stylish and with tremendous respect for his rider,” Lafargue said.
The stallion, an Anglo-Arabian by Phosph'Or and Jacinthe du Maury, leaves an impressive legacy in breeding. He has produced more than 650 offspring, a dozen of which have proven themselves at the highest level in the sport. Some of his best-known offspring include Api du Libaire, Maxime Livio's top horse, and Quelstar du Vic Bilh, successful on the international circuit under Alexandra Francart.
He is also acclaimed as the sire of outstanding dams, as evidenced by the performance of horses such as Drako de Maugré and Serise du Bidou. His legacy will live on in breeding and equestrian sports for many generations to come.
